Your private circle
A team on Berrynook is a small shared folder for up to 7 people — private over VPN, not a public cloud drive or chat app.
Have an invite? Open the join link from your email, then accept in the Berrynook app.
Why a team
- One shared folder — files for your circle in one place
- Office together — edit documents in your workspace
- Creative shelves ready — Music, sheet music, and Timeline are set up for you
- Quiet Talk — a call when you need one, without a chat-first product
- Private by design — same Proton email for app and cloud; day-to-day work stays in your workspace over VPN
How it works
- Create in the appAn entitled team owner names the team. Berrynook prepares the shared folder and shelves.
- Invite by Proton emailEach person gets a timed join link (7 days) bound to their address — no open share codes.
- They joinMatching email and an active Pass. Then accept from Cloud in the app.
- Work in your workspaceOpen Files lands in the shared folder. Office, Music, Memories, and Talk live at berrynook.cc.
What you get
Inside the shared folder: Music, Music Sheets, Timeline, and Shared docs. In your workspace you can use Files, Office, Memories, Talk, and (optionally) a calendar your team owner shares with the group.
The app is for membership and doors — create, invite, leave, open the right place. Living in the team happens in your workspace.
Good to know
- Up to 7 people including the team owner
- Invite links last 7 days
- Team files use the team owner’s storage — a member’s Pass covers their own space
- Workspace-first on purpose
Cover Passes and gifts
If you’re joining, you need an active Pass — buy on Plans, ask your team owner to cover you, or receive a gift from them.
As a team owner, you can cover Passes for people on your team (Cover Passes) or gift a Solo Pass (Gift a Pass). Members can also buy their own on Plans. Cover and Gift start in the app under Cloud, then you pay in the browser.
Cover Passes
Team owners: buy Passes for people on your team so they don’t have to. In the app: Cover Passes… → pick who to cover (including pending invites) → Pass 5 or Pass 80 → pay in the browser.
- 40 days per seat: Pass 5 $5 USD · Pass 80 $8 USD
- Already on the team: Pass time is granted right after payment
- Still pending: seat is held until they accept; if the invite expires or is revoked, that seat is refunded automatically
- Covering Passes does not create the team or add storage to the shared folder — it pays for each person’s Solo Pass seat
Gift a Pass
Team owners can Gift a Pass to any Proton email — a Solo Pass for someone who isn’t (or isn’t yet) on the roster. Cover Passes is for people on your team; Gift is for one person by email. App: Gift a Pass… → email → 30 or 90 days → pay in the browser.
- Same Solo pricing as Plans (Pass 5 / Pass 80, 30 or 90 days, USD)
- If they already have an account, the Pass is granted when payment clears
- If they are not set up yet, the gift is held up to 7 days, then unused gifts are refunded
- A gift is not a team invite — they still need a join link from your team owner to enter the shared folder
Questions
I opened an invite with the wrong email
Sign in to the Berrynook app with the Proton address named in the invite, then accept again. The link only works for that address.
My invite link expired
Ask the team owner to send a new invite. Links last 7 days and can only be used once.
What happens if I leave or get removed?
You lose access to the shared folder. Files already there stay for everyone who remains — we don’t wipe the team’s files.
We need more than 7 people
Email help@berrynook.cc — larger teams aren’t self-serve yet.
Do I need a Pass before I join?
Yes — an active Pass before join completes. You can buy your own on Plans, or your team owner may cover you with Cover Passes or Gift a Pass to your Proton email.
Where do I buy Cover Passes or gift a Pass?
In the Berrynook app under Cloud — not on this website. Cover Passes and Gift a Pass are for team owners. Solo Passes for yourself are on Plans.
